Leola is a muralist, artist and Brooklyn native who began practicing pilates in 2004 at the suggestion of her physical therapist to address tight shoulders and overall strength. Her fascination with the movements and rapid change that pilates produced in her own body led her to sign up for Mat Certification with Teri Steele in 2009, and then certificates in Advanced Exercises with Props, Stability Balls, Exercise Protocols for the Aging Population, and Prenatal Pilates.
In 2011 she began teaching mat classes at the Bed Stuy Y. At the time working as an art teacher at Bay Ridge Prep HS, she added teen pilates to the school’s phys ed roster. In 2012 she began studies at The Lab, where she learned Pilates Apparatus and Personal Training for Pilates Instructors.
Leola is pleased to work at the Pilates Garage. In addition to teaching Pilates she continues to work as an artist, delighting to empower her colleagues and clients with pilates awareness as a tool for fitness, longevity, injury prevention and healing.
